Is That Real or Is It Fake?

SPIRITUAL DISCERNMENT REVEALS THE ANSWER

On a scale from 1 to 10; with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest; what would you rate your level of spiritual discernment?  Hear me clearly, Sis!  We are not measuring a woman’s intuition nor are we weighing a woman’s level of suspiciousness.   Both of these are carnal character traits.  We need to rate our level of spiritual discernment.

So, let’s ask the $64,000 question.  What is discernment?  Discernment means “to distinguish, to separate by diligent search, to examine.”  That sounds like a lot of tedious work.  It is, Sis!  It is.  But we’re discussing spiritual discernment. Spiritual discernment allows the Holy Spirit to do the searching and separating. So we have to ask; how does a lady become filled with righteous or spiritual discernment?

Another great question!  We must start with The Word of God.  The Amplified Bible says, “But solid food is for the [spiritually] mature, whose senses are trained by practice to distinguish between what is morally good and what is evil.”  Hebrews 5:14.  This Scripture lets us know that a spiritually mature woman who reads the Word develops discernment and discernment will reveal to her what is fact and what is fiction.  Righteous discernment will completely expose the false prophet and reveal the true prophet.   A woman of discernment easily knows when a blood-thirsty wolf is dressed in pure-white, cuddly, and cute sheep’s clothing.  The discerning woman is not easily tricked by Satan’s masquerades.  The devil’s keen knavery is just one reason women must be diligent to read the Word.  Call To Action: Develop a consistent system for personal and corporate Bible Study.

The enemy is so subtle in his trickery that he will even have women lie to themselves.  One of the biggest lies that Christian women believe is, “I can make it without consistent time in the Word and prayer.”  Be discerning!  God’s discerning woman will regularly say, “Satan, you’re a liar! I will NOT compromise.”

Satan will have others try to defraud women, as well.  There are 8 types of false statements that God’s women need to be aware of.  They  are:  white lies, broken promises, stories that have been made up (fabrication), bold-faced lies, exaggeration, underhandedness or deception, and plagiarism.  Each mistruth is skillfully designed to tamper with a Godly woman’s sense of reality.  Diabolical!

Discernment is like having an index finger pointing directly to what is factual and another index finger pointing to what is fiction.  Discernment quiets every voice except the voice of truth.  When we get it right, discernment will unveil  manipulators and pull the covers off of those with hidden agendas.  Spiritual discernment provides accurate and truthful details.  Sometimes people will expose other people for selfish reasons.  But spiritual discernment is reliable exposure.  This discernment does not operate with ulterior motives.  It is a precious insight that should be pursued so we can make right choices in our daily lives.

In a world that is filled with trickery; God’s women need strong spiritual discernment.  Discernment can lead to wise decision making.  In addition to a strong connection to The Word, prayer is essential to developing Christian discernment.  The Psalmist prayed, “Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.”  Psalms 119:66.

Women of Faith, it is my prayer that you continue to grow in spiritual discernment.  I want you to be highly vigilant and keenly aware when the enemy is lurking with a plot to steal, kill, and destroy.  Happy spiritual growth!

This is absolutely good food for the spirit filled woman! Only through the gift of the Holy Ghost can we grow in Gods grace and develop our gift of discernment. As you pointed out, studying His word and praying, are essential tools for one’s developmental ability to accurately discern what is, “real” or “fake,” Not at all through emotional feelings or intuition. Also, women must embrace that gift, if, in fact, it’s God given. Too often we allow others to minimize our gifts and we make the mistake of not walking in the authority of that gift(humbly). I appreciate your encouragement to women to be bold enough(with humility), to embrace their gifts and let God be Glorified through it! May God continue to bless you in all that you do to enhance the lives of women everywhere.🙏🏽❤️

Yes, Beautiful! Studying The Word and prayer will help us to develop the gift of discernment. Thank you for sharing your wisdom on the topic of discernment. We need this operating in our lives at full throttle. I’m even more determined to read The Word and pray. Praying and believing!

  3. @LadyMelissa,
Thank you for making a clear distinction between what is carnal and what is spiritual regarding discernment. As women, we often times “drink the koolaid” regarding a woman’s intuition and mistaken it for discernment. We are naturally emotional beings and sometimes get caught up in our “gut” feelings thinking we know about someone’s character, inner thoughts or an assessment of happenings calling it discernment. Spiritual discernment is on another whole level of prayer, studying the Word, and consecration to truly make the distinction and know what’s God. If He gives it to us, it is for spiritual guidance, action of prayer, understanding, intercession and/or spiritual clarity of what truly is and is not.

Lady Melissa, once again you have provided food for thought to encourage the best in us spiritually as it manifests in our lives naturally. Thank you for your diligence to women for our well being in Him!!

    Blessings and Inspiration

Blessings, Sister Shannon: Thank you so much for sharing your insight. You’re so on point with your understanding of discernment. I love what you said. One thing you said, “If He gives it to us, it is for spiritual guidance.” The question is a rephrase of the movie-famous line, “You can’t handle the truth!” Can we handle the truth? God gives spiritual discernment to mature women who can handle the secrets of God. And obey His instructions on what to do with the confidential insight He provides.

Thanks for your encouragement. Walking by faith, Lady Melissa F. Fields
